Esteban Maroto nasce a Madrid nel 1942.
Il giovane Esteban si fa le ossa su serie a fumetti come Cinco por infinito (per il mercato anglosassone Zero Patrol), negli anni ’60. Ma è negli anni ’70 che il suo talento esplode a livello internazionale grazie ai suoi contributi artistici per grandi testate come Creepy, Eerie, Vampirella, The Savage Sword of Conan, 1984, e più recentemente anche su Brendon.
